This City Wedding styled shoot is a gorgeous representation of weddings in downtown Orlando, FL. Certainly bringing the luxury of the classic black and white design. Coupled with the city backdrop. Followed by impeccable styling. It all adds up to a stunning inspiration for planning your perfect city wedding.
Why This City Wedding Venue
The concept designer and lead photographer, Nova Imagery, is the driving force behind choosing this city wedding venue. First she wanted modern and contemporary design. Second choosing the perfect backdrop for a downtown Orlando wedding. Further, finding a location with views of the spectacular Florida sunsets. Without a doubt the Dr. Phillips Center terrace fits all these desired elements.
Each décor piece was especially chosen to compliment the black and white luxury theme. For example the brides bouquet and cake florals. As you can see the soft whites of the orchids and roses soften the harshness of the elegant black table setting. Indeed the black plates, flatware and chargers make a statement on the table. Coupled with the black candelabras and linen. Similar to the florals, the crystal stemware and clear table bring in an added modern touch and mirror the glass railing of the terrace.
Admittedly we are in love with the black 3 tier wedding cake by Anna Cakes. Furthermore the softness brought to the cake design by the fresh white roses and simple cake stand, atop the clear table.
top must have shots at your City wedding
Photographer, Elise Van der lee, provided her top 4 must have shots at your wedding. Especially when getting married at a city wedding at the Dr. Phillips Center.
1. Absolutely rooftop pictures when getting married in The City Beautiful.
2. A picture of the bride alone.
3. Likewise a picture of the groom.
4. Specifically at the Dr. Phillips Center. Elise says, “It has multiple gorgeous spots to take pictures. Indeed think about the beautiful stairs, in front of the entrance (with or without your car), in the theater or even at the lounge areas”
Expert Wedding Planning Advice
We asked Elise what advice she has for couples planning a city wedding. She said, “Don’t wait to book your venue and vendors. Generally speaking the best venues and vendors book up fast and this venue is definitely one of the best. Further, make sure you have enough time for sunset pictures on the roof and the spectacular view. Finally, take a moment together to take it all in when you look out over Downtown Orlando.”
Also, attend an I Said Yes! Wedding Show and I DOs and BREWS wedding planning date night to meet wedding vendors in person and plan your perfect wedding. See you soon.
A Wedding Florist in Orlando, FL offers her advice on the best ways to work with your florist. That is to say, she gives her top 5 tips on how to work with your wedding florist. Generally speaking this is meant to be a floral wedding guide. Absolutely do your research and compare floral wedding vendors to find the perfect fit for your wedding day.

When To Book Your Wedding Florist
No doubt, with 28 years of experience in the business, Andie with Events by The Flower Studio is considered an expert in the field. For this reason, her first tip is to book your wedding florist as soon as you have a date. Even if you are being careful and flexible with your budget, she says to book her “Save the Date” right away. Then worry about the details later.
Obviously your wedding bouquet is an important part of your special day. Consider these two options: soft hues and wheat grass. Or bright bold florals and berries.
Is It Junk
Next is how to best communicate with your florist. With so many options available, email, phone call, text message, direct message, etc., make sure you didn’t end up in junk, or lost. For example, an email is great, but sometimes they automatically get sent to junk. Undoubtedly this will make it difficult for your email to be returned. Don’t miss the chance to speak with your dream florist. Certainly, if you don’t hear back from your email or DM, make a quick phone call. Andie says they “Promise to return your call if you leave a message”. However, all wedding florists operate differently, be sure to find out from your florist their preferred method of communication. In turn, this will make your wedding floral plans run more smoothly.

What are your floral non-negotiables
Tip #3 – What are your priorities when it comes to flowers at your wedding? Assuredly you will have to decide which floral pieces are absolute musts for your wedding. For instance, do you want a ceremony arch and aisle décor. Or none of those. Similarly, what about the size and style and number of reception table centerpieces. Further, must you have out of season flowers, or will a seasonal substitution do. Make a plan and share it with your wedding florist. So together you create your perfect wedding.
Designed by J.Closs Events
Are flowers expensive
Fourth tip, every item has a price. Andie says many times she hears “Oh, I didn’t know flowers were this expensive.” Following this, she replies, “They are not. You just don’t know because you never needed this many flowers before.” Moreover she says, it’s OK, she is here to guide you. As a result, she will discuss your non-negotiables, help you select your flowers and create your plan and floral budget. As a rule, her average wedding floral budget for her couples is between $2,500 – $3,500 (2021 numbers). But they can do below $1,00 and over $10,000. Of course every item has a price. So work with your wedding florist to build your floral plan and budget. Assuredly each wedding florist will have differing prices, speak first to your florist about their pricing structure before you make your final commitment.

It's All Abou You
Lastly, it’s all about you. Whatever your perfect wedding looks like, do it. Speak directly with your wedding florist about your vision. Then be open to ideas and suggestions, and listen. Additionally, they are the experts and may have some ideas you have not considered. Above all, have fun and toss that bouquet on your wedding day!

Wedding Vendors contributing as sponsors to this Florida Wedding Expo by I Said Yes! FL:
Orlando wedding planners are here to help you have the best day ever. Further, many of them also help you complete your wedding theme and bring it to life. That is to say they use their creativity to help your wedding theme be reflected in every little detail. Here are 4 examples of themed events created by wedding planners for other wedding pros.
Speakeasy for this 1920's prohibition event
When Orlando wedding planner, Pavone Events, walked into the The University Club of Orlando, she knew right away this theme would be 1920’s speakeasy. As you can see, the dark wood, exposed concrete walls and rich colored furniture easily laid the backdrop of this wedding theme. To start, Kirby & Co Creative created placemat, table signage and drink signage in an old newspaper style. Next Florida Candy Buffets brought in candy cigarettes, 100 dollar bill chocolate bars and other delicious themed desserts. Add to that whiskey bottles and cigar boxes for flower vases and you have the makings of one great wedding theme. Additionally the planner worked with the chef to create a meal that was just as perfect for the theme. For example, mocktails called Rat Pack, The G Man and Shirley Temple. Along with the dessert company, Sugar Sugar Cake Boutique, the cupcake became Public Enemy #1.
Undoubtedly live wedding entertainment will put the finishing touches on this prohibition wedding theme. Dawn Gilmore Productions provided the Charlie Chaplin impersonator to welcome guests upon arrival and entertain during cocktail hour. Further Noire Productions brought a lounge singer and string players to set the mood for the reception service. Unquestionably there had to be a secret password as well. In order for guests to enter the elevator, they had to know the password….it was peacock.
Do me a solid and check-out this 1970’s themed wedding idea. Start with peace signs. Then add bright colors. Finish with TV dinner food trays and you have created the perfect wedding to the max.
Assuredly you would not normally consider a TV dinner for your wedding reception meal. However, Orlando Wedding Planners, Weddings by Kasey, wanted to go all out for this theme. So she worked with Two Chicks and a Pot to create a modern day TV dinner. Zoom in on the photo on the right below. Clearly the TV dinner idea was a hit, the plates are empty. Along with the TV trays, the meal consisted of turkey and gravy, garlic mashed potatoes and tender green beans with bacon wrap. Obviously a nod to its heritage in the 1970’s microwave.
Furthermore the theme was pulled together with bright colorful flowers by Posey Blooms and a groovy font on the signs created by Kirby & Co Creative. All photos for the 1970’s themed event taken by Mary Fosky Photography.
Admittedly wedding vendors enjoy getting together and creating memorable events. That is to say, we even like treating ourselves. Monthly the I Said Yes! team puts together a team of wedding professionals to create one-of-a-kind networking events. Each vendor takes this opportunity to really show-off their products and services. Therefore, this event was themed ‘Treat Yo’ Self’. As a rule, this wasn’t a specific theme, like the 1920’s and 1970’s above, but it was carried out in creative, yet subtle ways.
Starting with the custom signage on the doors to the balcony created by Littera. They read, ‘Treat Yo’ Self’ and ‘Let’s Lunch’. Next the soft colors of the florals designed by Lowe + Behold. Moreover the relaxing smells of eucalyptus and lavender set the tone for the space.
Further welcoming the idea of Treat Yo’ Self to a spa day were the soft grey’s and green’s of the furniture provided by Event Effects. Likewise the special touch of the heart shaped watermelon slice by Foodie Catering reminded us to love ourselves. Live entertainment by Aloha Erica set the mood. Finally the hand care kit for a takeaway gift provided by Mary Kay by Elena Brock. Undoubtedly each little touch of soft colors, smells, sounds and food helped to create the relaxing environment of this wedding theme idea.
Every year Pantone introduces its Colors of the Year. In 2021, those colors are Illuminating and Ultimate Gray. Orlando Wedding Planners, At Last Wedding + Event Design, created this stunning representation of how to use colors of the year for your wedding theme.
For example, soft grey rugs, sofa, chairs and pillows. Similarly the bright yellows and golds of the throw pillows, chargers and florals. Together they created a visually appealing design, perfect for any trendy wedding.
When creating your wedding theme, think about statement pieces like the yellow chair for the reception table. Coupled with the simplicity of the bud vase for the cocktail tables. Carry your theme throughout your entire wedding planning. From invitations, to table décor to takeaway gifts. Above all create your perfect wedding to represent you as a couple. Keep it subtle and traditional, or go all out. No matter what your wedding theme is, do you.
This beach wedding in Daytona Beach, FL is overflowing with love. And don’t forget the glittered shoes. Matt and Kevin shared their wedding story with us and it is too beautiful to keep to ourselves. So today we feature them on the I Said Yes! Wedding Inspiration Blog.
The grooms wore navy blue suits coupled with rose gold bow ties. As well as matching white boutonnieres.
We waited so long
Matt and Kevin had to postpone their original wedding date due to COVID. Because of this, it made the moment they walked down the aisle even more special. Matt said, “We all had waited for this moment, this wedding. Finally walking down the aisle, I held my husband’s hand and walked into the ceremony, both of us in tears.”
Further Matt said, “if you look at photos you’ll see lots of tears. You could just feel the love in every moment.”
you gotta' wear shades at this beach wedding
Assuredly the tears of joy were followed by a grand celebration. Starting with some fun photos on the beach captured by Dreamscape Photography. Indeed this happy couple was surrounded by the love of some really cool family and friends. That is to say, it was so cool, they had to wear shades.
These grooms know how to party
Certainly these two grooms got the party started with some piano playing and a first dance. No doubt they kept the energy high with the help of their wedding DJ, Elegant Entertainment Orlando. Subsequently they were surrounded by their family and friends on this packed dance floor.
Unquestionably the navy blue and rose gold theme was carried throughout the entire wedding. With the stunning wedding cake and rose gold wedding bands. Of course don’t forget those glittered rose gold shoes worn by the grooms.
Wedding Planning Advice
We asked this couple why they chose these vendors. Matt replied, “We loved all of our vendors. In fact, I remember the exact moment we knew we had to hire Dreamscape Photography. We were at a wedding expo, and Nicole approached us and asked how we were feeling. Subsequently we told her we were a bit overwhelmed. Following this, she then gave us the best piece of advice for planning our wedding.”
She said, “when hiring vendors, find people you easily connect with because you will be working with them so much and on a very big day of your lives.”
“We thanked her and moved on. Later that night we got home and realized we didn’t even know why she was at the wedding expo. Then weeks went by and we saw her again, at the next wedding show, and she remembered our names. That is why we knew we had to hire her for our photos.”
This garden wedding in Orlando was created using the bride’s favorite wedding colors. That is to say, blush, nude and greenery.
The trees and greenery in the garden provided the perfect backdrop for this simple and natural wedding ceremony.
Bringing the Theme to Life
The bride worked alongside her wedding vendors to create the wedding of her dreams. To clarify, her vendors had runners, chargers, napkins and garland that matched the theme. However, the florist, Le Fleur Atelier, used her talents to bring the theme to life, according to the bride. For example, the florist was able to implement drapes, pampas and lots of candles. Including the simple, but elegant draping over the tree limb at the ceremony. Therefore creating the intimate feeling the couple wanted for the garden wedding in Orlando.
Further a vintage dresser was used as the dessert table. Without a doubt, the bride said this display was “gorgeous”.
sentimental moments
Wedding day is an important moment in life for all family members involved. From the bride getting ready with her mother, to the groom preparing to see his bride. Also the bridesmaids celebrating with the bride. Then there is the first look between the bride and groom.
Next, the precious moments spent at the altar, repeating your vows and pledging your love to each other for eternity. Most important, dancing down the aisle after saying “I Do”.
It was important to the bride to remember her father, who passed away in 2019. For that reason, she included pictures of him along with a charm hanging from her bouquet. In addition, it included the saying “Siempre En Mi Corazon”, which translates to, always in my heart.
Reception at a garden wedding orlando
The blush, nude and greenery garden theme was carried all the way through the reception. For instance, table runners of greenery and blush roses. Also gold edged chargers and blush napkins. Adding to the ambiance was differing heights of candles. The 2-tier wedding cake by Morgan Hunter Desserts even perfectly matched the theme. Of course you can’t forget the gorgeous backdrop of greenery, trees and floral of the wedding venue, The Garden Villa at Florida Federation of Garden Club.
One of the bride’s most special surprises was how the overall décor of the wedding was beyond their imagination. Madelyn and Jeff had the idea in their minds, but never expected it to turn out as great as it did.

Weddings in Orlando come in a million different styles and themes. As a result, styled shoots, like this one, are a perfect way for you to find your wedding style ideas.
Moody Romance wedding in orlando
D’Space Orlando is a wedding venue offering a blank canvas and touting themselves as “Orlando’s First Modern-Industrial Event Venue”. Hence the moody romantic theme for this styled shoot. Subsequently, we asked the wedding planner, Candace of The Event Company, about this theme. Her response was, “My favorite colors are blush and gold, well and my brand colors as well. Also I have been dying to utilize black, but wasn’t quite sure how it would come together. When the owner of D’Space Orlando asked me to design a styled shoot, I decided on a moody romance theme. Utilizing my love of blush and gold and adding a touch of dark, we created this moody romantic shoot.” As a result, this styled shoot tantalizes your senses with a little mood and a little love. See below how each detail added to the creation of this vision.
Flowers, Flowers, Flowers
Starting with the flowers. Atmospheres Floral and Décor created lush romantic groupings of blush, pink, white, ivory and green. In fact, these stunning florals set the backdrop for the ceremony and cake table. As well as providing the soft romantic touch. Therefore balancing the harsh black tones of the linens and cake.
Speaking of cake. Wow this cake is drop dead gorgeous. Undoubtedly the cake designer embraced the essence of this theme. That is to say with the soft floral top tier and blush center. Balanced perfectly by the black textured floral bottom tier. Add to that the drama of the extra tall tiers and you have the perfect ending to your wedding day.
make the details speak volumes
When planning your wedding be sure to carry your theme through all the details. For instance, your stationery, signage and menu cards. This is why these invitations are blush and white, enveloped in black, with a romantic font. Of course, continuing along with the same font on the bar sign.
Moody and black linens for the reception table are softened with gold tones and blush menu cards. Simple patterned white china adds an additional touch of romance.
bringing the bubbly to this wedding in orlando
“She’s got that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’. She doesn’t fit in (nor does she want to)” and we agree. Unquestionably the Bubble Buggi is a must have for this moody romantic theme. Bringing some bubbly, some whimsy and a little drama. Certainly a great photo opportunity as well.
Advice from an expert. We asked the wedding planner for advice on planning your wedding at D’Space Orlando. She replied, “make sure that you use all of the space offered. With a separate space upstairs, you can always offer a cocktail reception up there. The opportunities are endless with a blank canvas. It just gets your creative juices flowing. And if that doesn’t work, hire a planner.” Quote by The Event Company.

Make it a #9 Please
The wedding bouquet toss is a tradition that is still performed at today’s weddings. Therefore, we cannot feature this real wedding of Kendall and Tyler without highlighting this moment of their wedding day. First, during her speech, the maid of honor mentioned her favorite meal, often enjoyed with the bride. Then, right before the wedding bouquet toss, she handed the wedding planner a bag of #9 meals from McDonalds. That is to say, a Filet-O-Fish meal. Apparently the aforementioned favorite meal was said Filet-O-Fish from McDonalds. Hence the bouquet toss of Filet-O-Fish meals for the girls.
Of course, after a few laughs, the bride continued on with the traditional wedding bouquet toss.
Now back to the beginning
Special Moments Event Planning assisted this Florida couple with full-service wedding planning. In contrast to the surprise wedding bouquet toss, the ceremony was elegant and beautiful. Start with the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico as the backdrop. Next add the white sands of the Clearwater, FL beach. Further, white garden chairs with gold lanterns and white rose petals as décor. As a result, the perfect scene was set for a lovely beach wedding.
Before walking down the aisle. The couple enjoyed precious time with their attendants and family. As you can see the bride spent time with her mother getting ready. Likewise the groom and his father.
Certainly the couple also had some pre-wedding fun with their attendants. That is to say, a round or two of shots.
NAvy, White and Gold
From the invitations to the wedding reception tables, the navy, white and gold wedding colors were perfectly reflected. Especially in the invitations with the navy paper and gold accents. Of course the bride’s stunning gown with spaghetti straps and high leg slit took center stage. Additionally the wedding bouquets of white orchids and garden roses were set off by the bridesmaids navy gowns. The men wore tan suits with navy vests and ties. In contrast, the groom wore a navy suit with tan vest and navy tie. Accordingly, the white sand beaches and blue ocean put the finishing touches on this elegant beachside wedding at Opal Sands Resort.
First Looks
Kendall and Tyler chose a first look before the ceremony. Many couples use this as an opportunity to shake off the wedding day nerves. Additionally it allows for a few private moments together to reflect on the ceremony ahead.
Furthermore Kendall chose a first look with her father.
The Ceremony
Unquestionably, tying the knot on a beach, with the sun and ocean behind. With the love of your life in front of you. And your friends and family surrounding you. Adds up to the perfect wedding day.
Before the party
Wedding photographer, Kristen Marie Photography, used the setting sun to capture memories for a lifetime for Kendall and Tyler.
party time
Time to celebrate. That is to say, first dances, food service and cake cutting. And of course the wedding bouquet toss. The wedding reception began with a first dance by the newlyweds. Followed by a delicious meal prepared by the staff at Opal Sands Resort. Likewise a modern, smooth finish cake created by The Artistic Wish, with simple navy accents and fresh florals. Obviously we can’t end this post without re-mentioning the surprise wedding bouquet toss. How about those #9 meals of Filet-O-Fish. Finally, the bride’s doggie best friend was in attendance as well. We wish Kendall and Tyler a lifetime of wedded happiness.
